State Nature Protection Institution NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is an integrated environmental, economic and scientific research institution. It is under the control of the Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Belarus.



The main tasks of the national park are:
  • сохранение эталонных и уникальных природных комплексов и объектов природы Беловежской пущи;
  • организация экологического просвещения и воспитания населения;
  • проведение научных исследований, связанных с разработкой и внедрением в практику научных методов сохранения биологического разнообразия, изучением природных объектов и комплексов;
  • разработка и внедрение в практику научных методов охраны природы и природопользования;
  • сохранение культурного наследия;
  • организация рекреационной деятельности;
  • ведение комплексного хозяйства на основе традиционных методов и передовых достижений природопользования.
The national park is financed from the funds received from the state budget, from extrabudgetary nature protection funds, from scientific, environmental and economic activities. It is a legal entity, which has its own operating and foreign currency accounts in banks, independent balance sheet, seal, stamps, forms and symbols.

Protective service
 The National Park protection service is a structural subdivision of the SNPI NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha", created to ensure the safety of material values and other property belonging to the SNPI NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha".

The protective service carries out its activities to ensure the safety of legal entities and individuals (when it comes to performing protection of the objects (property) belonging to a legal entity, it carries out its activities on the basis of a special permit (license) No. 02010/9410 of December 28.

Protective service tasks:

- ensuring reliable protection of property and material values belonging to the SNPI NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha";

- implementation of a strict access regime at protected sites;

- prevention and suppression of any illegal encroachment on the property of the SNPI NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha";

- maintenance of due order in the territory of protected objects;

- implementation of measures aimed at improving protection activities, including the use of alarm systems.

Protection is provided by day-night shift. The number of protection security staff is established by the leadership of the SNPI NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" based on financial possibilities and taking into account the norms of working hours determined by labor legislation;

The access control in the SNPI "NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is carried out through 14 checkpoints, 4 of which work twenty-four hour, the rest - from 8.00 to 18.00. The access control provides the admission procedure to the National Park territory and its facilities for both employees of the National Park and workers of other farms, as well as visitors; rules of entry (exit) to the territory through checkpoints of road, horse-drawn transport and vehicles of special services of other departments; the rules for the import (export) of material values ​​to the National Park territory.

The structure, protection arrangement and use of natural complexes and facilities of the National Park are carried out in accordance with the "Regulations on the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha", approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 59 dated 9.02.2012 "On the National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha". The National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" is the most valuable natural object of our republic. Part of its territory is included in the list of World Heritage Sites. Therefore, understanding the value and necessity of preserving natural complexes, the leadership of the SNPI "NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha" pays special attention to the protection of its territory, compliance with the established order and carrying out measures to prevent poaching, destruction of flora, fauna and other violations of environmental legislation.

For this purpose an operational huntsman service was established in the national park in the security department, which carries out raiding activities for identifying and suppressing offenses regarding to protection and use of flora and fauna. It consists of 13 people subdivided into 4 groups. A commander is assigned to each group. The general management of the group work is carried out by the chief of the operational huntsman service. The service is directly subordinated to the protection service chief and the general director.

Specificity of the operational huntsman's service is connected with conducting of raids, timely response to incoming violation signals. Since the National Park itself is located within the boundaries of 3 administrative districts (Kamenets, Pruzhansky, Svisloch) and besides, there is a subordinate FHF "Vygonovskoe" in Ivatsevichi district, which controlled territory is quite large in size. Although it is guarded by services directly engaged in protection, regular raids of the operational huntsman service are of particular importance. To conduct them at any time of the year and in any conditions, the service has in possession vehicles (cars "UAZ", "Niva"), and a quad bike with a snowmobile in addition. For the revealing work on violation of fishing rules they have a motorboat, and digital cameras with night vision goggles for documentation of the detected offenses. The operational huntsman service is equipped with communication tools, has service weapons. State Nature Protection Institution "National Park "Belovezhskaya Pushcha".


In 2012, 429 raids were conducted by the operative-huntsman service staff of the SNPI "NP "Belovezhskaya Pushcha", including 59 joint ones (Regional Department of Internal Affairs, inspection of flora and fauna protection under the President of the Republic of Belarus, border troops), 3 criminal offenses on the facts of illegal hunting were detected. 244 administrative protocols were drawn up, 14 firearms, 1 vehicle, 3 floating crafts were seized, as well 1847 meters of fishing nets, 83.6 kg of fish and 135 kg of wild animals meat.
16 administrative protocols were drawn up for violation of hunting rules, 109 administrative protocols for fishing rules violation, 59 protocols for forest offence.

Claims amounting to 5650 rubles were brought for damage infliction. Fines were imposed in the amount of 6270 rubles.

Along with the violation detection of environmental legislation, work is carried out to identify and destroy moonshining hotbeds. Joint raids are conducted with the participation of state law enforcement and environment employees together with other organizations engaged in the protection of flora and fauna.
